Resumé of 2007 performance:
The scene is King John III’s court, some time in the late 16th century. His queen, Katerina Jagellonica, is willing to go to any lengths to manipulate him to reinstate Catholic order in the country.
King John’s cousin and stepmother, Katarina Stenbock, just two years older than the king, becomes Jagellonica’s main adversary, and the King is caught between them. It’s a battle between good and evil.
At the same time, the court is in chaos. Princess Cecilia Vasa has been forced to flee for her life from Queen Elizabeth in England, with police, thieves and Elizabeth’s secret lover Lord Dudley all hot on her heels.
